Underground in Tombstone – No body was shot at the OK Corrall

07-27 Can you believe this Now we are heading explore old silvermines under Tombstone, AZ The reason the city was here. There are over 300 Miles yes Miles of mines at deep as 1500 feet below Tombstone.

07-27 We have a guide because there are over 300 miles of mine tunnels that go as deep as 1,500 ft. under Tombston. We had to bring our one helments, flashlights, knee pads and gloves. No lighted paved path. This is really exploring old stuff and it is cool.

07-27 This is an air shaft dug from the bottom up there is no debris around the top of the hole.
This one comes up in donkey corral on top.

07-27 Climbing down to a lower level. We were down about 300 feet. The water table is a 500 feet. Since there are no more water pumps working everything below 500 feet is flooded today.
The guide we had on opened up this exploring mine and does this one day month for a small group.

07-27 here we are taking a break Anthony is coming back from exploring a side tunnel.

07-27 Helena passing some old blocking from the 1880s the wood is in perfect shape. All this was dug by candle light, hammer, chisel and blasting powder. Each miner brought down a wax candle to work by.

07-27 There are natural Geodes in the ceiling and sides of the walls.

07-27 climbing up a ladder put there in the 1880s with square nails. Since these are dry mines the wood underground does not rot.

07-27 below another air shaft to the surface a snake has been living down here for a couple of years. It feeds on what ever falls down from above.

07-27 Making our way out of the mine, we were down there for 3 and half hours – cool. you do this in the summer in tombstone. Coming out into the bright heat is another feeling.

07-27 you have to go to a gun fight show while your there Helena got to be in it and shot one of the bad guys.
You also find out the first Movie moved the gun fight from Front street to the OK Corral because is looked better. In real life back then you wouldn’t have a gun fight where you might hit the transportation.

07-27 Little did the actors know that Helena and Anthony could probably give them a run for pistol shooting.

The Weather Cools Nicely and we are on the bikes.

07-24 Fortunately the weather cooled with an approaching Moonsoon Thunderstorm for the rest of this bicycle trip.

07-23 We are sure getting some good bike riding in Today is 22 mile round trip on the Julian Wash trail in Tucson, Az

07-24 there are tons of Prickly Pear Catus in fruit along the trail

07-24 So we tried some either we are really tired and hungry or they actually tasted good. the darns tiny thorns keep sticking in your fingers and you can hardly see um.

07-24 Anthony and I improvised and were able to eat a couple of these things

07-23 today Anthony, Helena and I head to the gun range. Anthony got a tarket between the eyes with a 9MM Clock pistol great shooting

07-23 Anthony comes over to take a few shots with the short barrel .38 pistol. This kid is a natural shot.

07-23 Squeezing off some 357 pistol rounds – still on target lots more noise.
Now all we need is more ammo.

A couple of days rest and Up the mountain for 20 mile downhill

07-22 After a couple of days of hanging out Anthony is ready to do the 20 mile down hill on Mount Lemmon Highway

07-22 He is flying thru here that is Tucson ahead.

07-22 Passing Windy Point. The rumble strips across the road slow up the cars.

07-22 I hit 45mph following Anthony more than once and he pulled away from me. Good thing he has a helmet on.

07-22 looks like he hardly broke a sweat on at the end.

Time for some 2 wheel and 3 wheel stuff

07-19 And the next day we load up the bikes and head to the bottom of Mt. Lemmon to ride up the mountain.

07-19 Unloaded on the side of the road and heading up

07-19 it is up hill the whole way that is Tucson in the background 3,000 feet down

07-19. And is stays steep – Anthony kept pushing forward and we go higher and higher

07-19 Still here 4 miles constanstant up and he can still smile

07-19 now comes the more fun part after 5 miles at the 4,000 ft marker down to the truck

07-17 to get out of the heat and do something Antony and I took some day hikes up on Mount Lemmon out side of Tucson great cool weather at 8500 ft altitude

07-17 We took Helena’s dogs with us this is Trudy – Anthony has the bright shirt on

07-17 Hedi and Trudy have treed a squirrel up a tree – they think. The Squirrel actually jumped to another tree and took off.

07-13 Well the Adventure has some up and downs this one is both Anthony jumps from the top of the stratosphere – no parachute.

07-13 They do suite up up with a harness and cable so you don’t leave a blood spot on the sidewalk

07-13 all the way to the bottom Good Job. taking that step off the edge of the building uses some nerve.

07-05 we fished from the boat from the shore from everywhere – no fish.

07-5 We patched the hole in the bottom of the fishing boat and put out on Nelson Resivour for Trout fishing

07-05 We drove up to the top of Escudilla Mountain 10,000 ft – no breathing problems. Anthony found where we had carved Pruiett and Fox on a tree a few years ago with Michael and Raven.
